    Students should submit their reports at least twice—once when they have designed their procedure and once when they have conducted the investigation. Consider using this as a summative assessment.

    (Caution: Do not conduct this project if anyone nearby is allergic to nuts.)

    Use the Internet to research simple techniques for determining the calories in nuts. Design a procedure that you could use to determine the calories (or joules) present in a gram of each of three different nuts. Complete an outline of your procedure and a materials list. Submit it to your teacher. Once it is approved, conduct the experiment and calculate the number of calories in each gram of each type of nut. Record your results graphically and attach your graph to your report. Provide an analysis of your results.
